CASE REPORT SUMMARY:

Agent Lee and consultant Peter Bishop crossed Over There without authorization and were detained and interrogated by the DOD. Agent lee provided information about a Shapeshifter infiltration of Fringe Division's Agent Murphy. Secretary Bishop released Agent Lee and Peter Bishop, as their intel led Agent (B)Olivia Dunham and Captain Lee to apprehend suspect David Robert Jones, who was arrested in a warehouse with containment units for more 'shifters. Jones admitted to creating forty-seven soldiers, and he killed one in front of the arresting agents before he requested to speak with Colonel Broyles.
In interrogation, Jones demanded that Colonel Broyles acquire a hard drive from the desk of decommissioned Shapeshifter Brandon Fayette within twelve minutes, or he would trigger a catastrophic event. peter Bishop provided information about Jones from his own timeline and was given access to the subject, which unnerved Jones. The drive was acquired, and Jones was allowed to leave custody as Fringe agents spiked his tea with an internal tracker that kept him under constant surveillance. Jones diverted agents by giving away money in a public square and then was able to dismantle the tracker and disappear. The drive contained government satellite geological information on amphilicite mines. Used as a power source by Dr. Bell in Peter Bishop's universe, Peter Bishop theorized that Jones created a way to weaponize the one hundred pounds of amphilicite he had acquired.

NOTABLE QUOTES

Alt Elizabeth:
"The last time I saw you you'd come to save a boy's life. Now I've come to do the same."
Alt Elizabeth:
"I'm reminded of something, too. That night, 26 years ago, when you came to me on the other side and took Peter away with you."
Walter:
"I'm sorry. I should never have done so."
Alt Elizabeth:
"But you were trying to save him."
Walter:
"He wasn't mine to save. I had no right. My Peter had already gone."
Alt Elizabeth:
"You were still a father. I saw how much you loved him. Your strength-"
Walter:
"Not strength. Hubris! And I've been punished for it ever since."
Alt Elizabeth:
"By whom?"
Walter:
"By God. By a deity, whatever you want to call it. And I understand I deserve it. No man should do what I did."
Alt Elizabeth:
"You made a mistake, that's what being a man is."
Walter:
"It was more than a mistake. I broke universes! I asked for a sign of forgiveness. But I got nothing. There is no absolution for me."
Alt Elizabeth:
"Well I don't believe that. I forgive you, Walter. I forgave you a long time ago. And if I can, God can. We both lost our sons. We'll never watch them grow up and fall in love, have babies. But there's something of them in him. This Peter. I know you feel it too. And if you could just help him. Walter, he deserves to go back to the people he loves, and who love him."
Walter:
"I'm afraid."
Alt Elizabeth:
"So is he."

EPISODE CONNECTIONS

Callbacks (2 earlier episodes)
  • Connection: Power cell stolen from Nina's arm S1E20 Timestamp: 05:59
Jones stole a very powerful energy cell from Nina's arm in "There's More Than One of Everything." In "Enemy of My Enemy" Jones was trying to locate and steal a similarly powerful energy source, amphilicite.
  • Walter (in "Enemy of My Enemy"):
"I asked for a sign of forgiveness, but I got nothing. There is no absolution for me."

He asked for a sign of forgiveness like he did in "White Tulip", but due to the different timeline he never got that sign.
